my first from these guys is exactly what it says it is, a hoppy american lager with a nice little bite at the end, not real radical or anything, but pretty robust as the pale lagers go nevertheless. its a shade deeper than golden, but mostly clear and still glowing kind of light in the glass under a half inch of white head. the aroma on this is a little spicy, not sure what hops they use, and it sounds like the change maybe in different versions of this, but this one has a kind of prominent noble character, some grassy and herbal intensity wity nice bitterness once i get it in my mouth. it does a little bit seem like i am not catching it at its maximum freshness, but i like it anyway. the aromatic element of the hop is not so distinctive, but has some pine and some resinous element, almost india pale lager status there. a little sweetness to the malt is odd without any real lager yeast character to it, i thought there might be a little more action there, but its not weighty or anything, just a little bigger than would be totally crushable. decent offering and first impression here, i need to get my lips on some more of their stuff!
