Serviceable saison, if far away from my favorite. Look is golden, smell is consistent with the style, taste left me wanting. I think it is too sweet for the style. I personally would look elsewhere.

Poured from can into tulip, minimal head and nice lacing. Clear amberish golden in the glass. Smells of muted Belgian esters and ginger, rocking the house. This is one of those deals where the yeast esters start kicking in and the ginger takes over. There is lemon grass there, but the ginger is beating it down. Great drinking beer, somewhat spicy dry finish

L- Pours a one and a half finger head mainly clear beer. Deep golden and amber appearance.
S- Sweetness from a very distinct ginger character, followed by a slight yet very present spice, fruity.
T- Minimal yet it holds true to the styles flavor. Nice spice kick in it. Yeasty, fruity, banana bread are all other aromas I pick up.
F- The feel is dry, as the style usually tends to be.
O- I haven't had many saisons but I do really enjoy this beer and know its true to the style. I'd say I'm a bigger fan of Tank 7, but that in no way says that it's better because I haven't had many of this type of beer. A truly solid beer.

A: smooth and soapy one finger head, hazy straw gold to amber hue
S: immediate pepper and ginger, with spice and an estery, yeasty backbone, maybe even some sage or basil, a very hearty aroma
T: surprisingly understated, in an elegant enough way, the first thing you get (the ginger) is not assertive or powerful, it's just the first thing to stand out. The pepper and yeast notes are definitely present, but also, somewhat subdued, however this beer has an excellent, spicy and herbal flavor to it, that it manages with a good amount of grace, there is a hop bitterness here that is likewise herbal, but is not painful or dominating, and there is also a subtle malty undertone
M: very dry
O: this is by no means a revelation of a beer, but it is an exceptionally well balanced and more or less faithful example of the style that is neither too far away from the basic guidelines of the style nor too faithful to them. It's a beer that I will be having again and...sorry avondale and good people, this is the best saison in birmingham, you could take a lesson from this beer on what a saison is, and then re-evaluate your saisons accordingly. Well done.
