Murky dark purple-brown color. The head was medium sized pink bubbles which quickly disappeared. Too cloudy to see any bubbles rising, but the top half of the tulip glass has lots of bubbles sitting on the side of the glass. Left thin strings of lacing.
Smell is a blend of raspberry, raspberry twigs, and light barnyard. Faint malt. Swirling the glass kicks up a stronger barnyard which slowly fades away to go back to the raspberry and raspberry cane twig smell.
Tastes of a light raspberry with a stronger, pale malt. Slightly tart. The aftertaste is a bit more tart with a lot of malt. The raspberry slowly fades away.
Very light tongue tingling. Quickly forms a light foam that evolves to larger bubbles before collapsing away. Slightly oily feeling. Medium-light body.
This seems like a new recipe, not simply a slight tweak. They added the word "Blue" to the name, so I think this was the intent. This is improved over the earlier, non-Blue version. Many of my quibbles with the previous brew have been addressed. The funk has been mostly eliminated and the malt has taken over. This one is much more beer than cooler.
