Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass.
Hazed pale orange and brass yellow body with a minimal amount of carbonation. Thin topped off white head, settling to a small pencil sized collar.
Aroma is relatively muted and not too distinct. Mild sensing nut with a hint of cream. Light touches of an almost burnt pine note, sort of woody like bringing in a little touch of bitterness.
Palate hits slightly odd. Light bodied and hinting a little wet in mouthfeel. Slight touching nut flavor with nut much sweetness coming behind it. Mild sensing cream and more of a tannic woody finish that's kind of numbing.
Not getting much of the cream ale character let alone pistachio unfortunately. Drinkable but not as enjoyable as the other ice cream ale offerings.

Nice clarity. Good head retention and lace. Restrained generic lager/ale aroma. Faint pistachio, if that's what that is. Flavor is nutty malt, only vaguely resembling pistachio. Lactose adds some interest. but not much. Slightly creamy. Not a bad beer, but kind of bland and misses the mark on "pistachio ice cream." Most disappointing of the ice cream ale series.
