Deep, dark brown, nearly black body; very thick, foamy, light tan head; rings of lacing down the glass. Spicy, grassy aroma; chicory. Pungent and bitter flavor with a slight charred grain undertone; a twinge of chocolate sweetness further down. Medium-light body; smooth and creamy yet seemingly a bit thin at times; a very mild, sharp and biting quality; mostly dry finish.
A rather tasty and nice twist on the saison styles. The taste delivers some excellent dark roasted grain character with just the right touch of malt sweetness. Another solid one-off offering from a small Colorado Springs brewery.
