Light yellow hue with a twinge of cloudiness; dense, slow-rising carbonation; thick head, white and pillowy, softly rocky, long-lasting. Pleasing aroma; wheat cracker and delicate oats; light citrus; lemongrass. Muted flavors initially then faint lime; white Riesling wine; phenol bitterness; tannins. Medium body; smooth with a refined velvety feel; initial juiciness that resolves into a mild dryness at the finish.
I have had this one for a while. There is no dating info per se on the label, but Local Relic still makes beers, they just don't distribute to local retailers anymore. That said, it also has been ages since I have had any of their beers. This one doesn't disappoint. It is muted, low-key and, yet, nicely balanced and flavorful. It is (was) a small batch offering and bottle conditioned. Like a fine wine, I assume this one has mellowed and matured with age. As I still see a bottle or two around town, I may just score another one. A very pleasant beer.
ABV: 7.0%; pouring temperature: 50.2 °F; bottling info: Batch number: 1557; 78 bottles produced
