Young Lion of the West is a light yet flavorful cream ale with just enough hops to give it a little bite. Young Lion of the West (An old nickname of Rochester NY) is named in homage to my hometown's most famous brewery (Genesee Brewery) and one of its famous beers, Genesee Cream Ale.

Pours a clear golden color. A foamy head retains well.
The nose is pretty straightforward. Aromas of sweet bready malt and cracker with a touch of floral and grassy spices.
A sweet bready and biscuity malt base is well balanced by just the right touch of bitterness. Notes of cracker, lemon, grass and floral spices.
Light bodied and smooth. The finish is clean and mostly dry. The carbonation is moderate.
Simply crafted but tasty. Very easy to drink; I could have multiple of these.

Canned 10/02/2020, it pours cloudy gold color with a 2 finger thick foamy white head that had bubbles of all sizes, fading slowly and leaving decent foamy lacing. Smells of biscuit, sweet malt, vegetables, faint lemon zest, mild spices and some floral notes. Tastes of sweet malt, yeast, wheat bread, light caramel, vegetables, faint lemon zest, mild spices like tea leaf or coriander and some floral notes. It's smooth and the low ABV makes it really easy to drink.

Poured from a can (purchased at brewery today, no date I could find) into a sort of nonic pint glass
L: hazy orange gold color, thick white head with accompanying lacing. Head stuck around for several minutes, lacing as well
S: sweet corn aroma at first, with a biscuity/flour background. Slight bit of herbal/hop aroma but that sweet note leads
F: follows the nose, sweet creamed corn flavor. Very full without becoming too sweet or off-putting. Medium finish, bready notes here. Not much hop bite to speak of, very drinkable. Refreshing but full flavored
F: medium carbonation, medium-full mouthfeel but appropriately so/probably think that due to the sweet nature of the beer
O: not a style I have often/ever, nice sweet ale. Not sure I’d sit down to multiple pints but great flavor, especially at 4.2%
