Strong Rope Brewery "Eek The Weak"
on tap at the brewery tasting room on 6 March 2016
$6/pint
Interesting name. It makes me curious as to how it relates to the beer. Perhaps it has something to do with its strength, which is just 4.6% ABV, but which also places it in the category we currently call an "export" or 80 shilling Scottish ale.
As to that designation, despite the fact that they list it as having been brewed with Cascade hops, it fits the bill. It's fairly dark, has a darkish malt character with a suggestion of roastiness, a firm bitterness at its base, and an overall "malty" character. It's medium-light in body and smooth across the palate.
Easy to drink and full of character, Eek The Weak makes a pleasant beer to wind down the week with, or perhaps start the weekend with! Worth trying.
