a big dry hoppy new england type ipa, but juicy and fresh and balanced, dangerously easy drinking for its strength, and one that doesnt taste samey to me, so many of them run together in this style for me now, but this has a neat earthy even spicy grain base that carries the hops in a unique way, and is allowed to flavor the beer more than is common in the style, i really like the contribution from the malts here. its hazy but it isnt thick, a short white head persists from the tap, and the beer has a bubbly, creamy richness to it without being sweet at all, a perfect texture for the style in my opinion. the hops have some spiciness as well, a higher alpha complexion too than i am used to in this style with some bitterness coming on early and staying late, a mix of old and new school hops is obvious, with some dense pine as well as a tropical fruit thing of pineapple and meyer lemon, its fresh and zesty and unique, a great hop profile here overall. that there is some grain character and some hop bitterness really makes this for me, id love it to be a little less strong so i could drink it all night, but the flavors here are unique and delicious. very nice glass of ipa here.
