From the bottle (beautiful wax presentation but had a devil of a time taking it off) it pours a dark brown color, looking black and ruby in the glass. A tan head rapidly dissipates.
Blended with a cherry kettle sour, the nose opens funky and pairs well with the barrel notes of oak. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and dark fruit. Vinous aromas evoke notes of red grape and raisin, along with tart cherry notes from the blend.
Unique blend of flavors, displaying a nice harmony between the roasted malts, the barrel aged notes, and washing up with the tart cherries. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, nutty and biscuity malts, biscuit, raisins, citrus, bourbon, cherry, oak and sherry. The finish is bright, tangy and dry.
Full bodied and gently carbonated. The mouthfeel is smooth and soft. Relatively easy to drink for the ABV.
Complex and super interesting. A unique blend of imperial stout and sour. I would seek out again.
