The head balloons like a thunderhead on a hazy, hot, humid afternoon. Like an afternoon shower, it lasts just a minute before fading to a memory. While short lived, it was bold, white, rocky, and loud. No lace is left on the Spieglau IIPA glass. The beer is murky, golden orange, like run-off in a river. Wafts of tiny carbonation rage throughout.
The peach aroma is clearly evident. Unfortunately, also clearly evident is an acrid, artificial aroma. Once one gets past these, a light brine can be detected.
Peach flavors follow the nose in clarity as well as artificiality. It is sweet, with light bitterness and mild sourness. The finish is long and mild, like an over-ripe peach. Upon reflection, a tidewater flavor is definitely present, although faint.
A light body with sharp, fine texture. Surprisingly, there is a light touch of alcohol. It is highly carbonated, just short of vigorous.
This could be a very good introductory beer for those unfamiliar with sour beers in general. Not exactly a Berliner Weisse, but a nice attempt.
