Editited review, tried a fresh can again 8-months after initial review. Beer is utterly different, there must have been something wrong with my first can. A very thick, semi-sweet IPA. Some wrong flowery, vanilla-oak notes, but with a good amount of bitterness to offset it, tho it could be a little less sweet. Glad I tried it again, and would recommend

Original: Tried the first canning (I think first) of this beer. Something is really off about it. It smells like an IPA, but that has a weird cleaning supply taste to it. Very strong strange lemon taste, with something else that I just can't place. After three sips, down the drain it goes. Sad.

Formally the oak aged version of the Borderland IPA now with a name of it's own.Pours from the growler a dull slightly hazed burnt orange infused lighter golden with a billowing almost creamy-like head atop. Some toasted oak go's right along with some citrusy hops in the nose, also i get a slight floralness as well. The oak also plays a big role on the palate giving off some toast and even a big "meatiness" to go along with the bright hops,a slightly sweet doughy malt base is there as well. This is different...in a good way,42 North is legit.
