Although I love IPAs, I also love a good Lager but that craft style is often harder to find in the craft world. Thus, when I discovered some cans of this Suncook Lager from an unfamiliar brewery named Oddball in the cooler of the Nashua Beer Shop I didn't hesitate to pick up a few. An error on my part. Not an error regarding the beer itself but an error in that I should have picked up more than a few cans as it turned out to be a fine example of this traditional style - vastly different from the type of unfortunate Lager put out by the national brewers in recent years. Some corn in the taste but certainly not dominant.
Suncook is unfortunately not currently available in my area of NH but I'll certainly be looking for it in my travels around the state.

From the 350 ml. bottle that was bottled on 6/1/2017. Sampled on June 2, 2017.

It pours a near opaque, milky looking pale yellow underneath a modest white head.

The aroma brings out a nice corn grits, bready, and sweet malt note with a more muted grassy hop character.

The body is medium but it feels heavier. It is also quite smooth.

The taste has the same sweet corny character as the aroma suggests. But this is not corn syrup. This is the real stuff. Then there is a dry and mild to moderate lingering bitterness at the end. I quite liked it and feels it represents the traditional style before the adjunct-days.
