16 oz. can. Inky black body. Smells sweet. Very sweet. Marshmallow and a bit of peanut butter candy. Whiskey and milk chocolate. Taste is maybe not as sweet as the nose implied, but still sweet. Much more malt flavor of the sweet... malty varietal. Whiskey is strong and alcoholic tasting. Marshmallow almost comes off as maple. Lightly acidic finish with an oaky aftertaste. Medium heavy. Not something I'm enjoying. Too sugary for me with a funny finish.

Beautiful deep brown color and moist bubbly brown head. Big roasted hazelnut nose with a little bit of chocolate. Taste is big hazelnut as well, with a little more bakers chocolate and some pepper. Nice medium to full mouth feel. Absolutely wonderful beer! Great job Civil Society!

Thanks, Jared, for this excellent beer!

I've had Civil Society hops, and given their high level of execution, I anticipated this brew to be a good one.

A: That beautiful dark chocolate with Hershey's chocolate stained head that looks so inviting.

N: Sweet Milk Chocolate, Mild Bourbon and Walnuts ( my drinking partner got Hazelnut instead of Walnuts).

T: This is where the beer shines, Milk Chocolate Beer Milkshake. Reading the label more closely, I could discern that the Walnut I had been tasting was the peanuts - I got dry roasted and marshmallow. Some vanilla sweetness also.

O: This was just a fantastic beer. My only suggestion for improvement would be to offer a higher BA version with more prominent barrel aging, but make no mistake, this is an excellent beer, and if Civil Society is not "already on the map", this should do it.
