Poured from fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with brown head. Noe is nice - chocolate, roasted malts, coffee grounds, tobacco, and licorice. Taste follows the nose, but with some metallic tastes up front. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, cigars. Feel is creamy. Overall, a good stout but nothing mind blowing.

On tap at EBF in Boston, MA.
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
The coffee just leaps out of the glass here, it's roasty, chocolatey, and slightly lemony, a bit of cookie dough, and some espresso bitterness on the nose.
Civil Society always stands out at this festival - they are clearly a very talented brewery. The coffee flavor on this one is so nice. It's rich, with chocolate, cookie dough, and fruit, and a big roasty and slightly smokey bitterness. It dominates the beer, but the coffee is complex so I don't care.
This is medium bodied, rich and creamy, with a great level of drinkability.
This is absolutely excellent, and I'm not surprised about that at all.
