Just over a month old. 16oz can bought at WPB brewery TR. poured in Spigelau IPA glass.
Look: pours golden/straw colored with thick, frothy 2" white head with decent retention. beer is partially hazy, cloudy but not all the way as some other NEIPAs. minimal lacing was observed.
Smell: very citrusy (mandarin orange maybe). earthy, grassy hops. these are quite intense, masking any malt-derived aromas. there's also something just slightly unpleasant going on here that I can't identify. but its minimal
Taste: surprisingly sweet. this sweetness is not balanced by any type of bitterness which I'd expect. just a big combination of hop flavors that create a flavor not unlike that of an orange juice, and grapefruit juice combination.
Feel: medium/light body, creamy texture, pronounced astringency. carbonation is moderate. finishes sweet with a lingering astringency on the palate. --- overall, its a little disappointing although not a bad beer per se. to be fair these NEDIPAs do deteriorate quickly and this can is about 5 weeks old.
Overall: a NEDIPA that some folks will appreciate. one of my least favorite DIPAs from Civil Society even when fresh but now seems to have lost whatever balanced it might have had right out of the gate.
