Canned on: ?????

A - Opaque medium orange golden tan with dense, white creamy lacing that sticks to the glass.

S - Tropical fruit, citrus, some small traces of spiciness, juicy floral, and a small amount of herbal character.

T - Tropical fruit, spicy tropical fruit rind, spicy herbal, cedar with a little bit of mint, tangerine, papaya, and finishes with some sticky pine bitterness.

M - Big chewy body and pillowy soft texture with some dryness on the back of the tongue.

O - This is a solid D-IPA worth checking out.

Canned June 2021; drank 8/11/21 @ Form Over Function Rosslyn.

Opaque orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big white head; strong, frothy lace.

Orange juice, table sugar & dry grass notes in the nose.

Soft, medium mouthfeel.

Baking soda, orange juice & dry grass flavors.

Off-putting but drinkable. Not one to seek out.

Undated can poured into a tulip. Guessing it’s somewhere in the range of 4-6 weeks old based on where it came from (Southern Grist 5th Anniversary Party) and the canning dates on most of the other beers that were made available.

Incredibly hazy, opaque, and murky pale orange-gold body. Pure pineapple juice. Minimal head but a creamy foam cap that provides loads of dots of lacing down the glass.

Wonderfully citrusy and tropical on the nose, with a rich, overripe (but not over-overripe) fruit personality that's balanced well by grassy, herbal, and slightly dank notes. Pretty pungent. I bounce back and forth between sweet orange, mango, lemon-lime, pineapple, and a medley of other citrus and tropical fruits. Maybe even a little generic stone fruit in the mix. Some strong but short berry notes, as well. And a pleasant grainy note in the background to keep things honest. I don't pick it up initially, but as the beer warms there's a remarkable extra note that appears and really makes this aroma profile unique. I'm guessing it's the Sabro at work, as it is some combination of tropical fruit, vanilla, coconut, resin-filled pine wood, and Pina Colada-inspired sunscreen, but not distinctly any one of the above. It's really pleasant, and mixed with the citrus and tropical fruits (and dank greenery) it's highly alluring. Definitely adds some extra sweetness to the overall smell.

The taste follows through with most of what appears on the nose, but it's much more muddled and much less tight, creating quite the waves across my taste buds. Fruit salad with just a touch of bitterness and pith and a fair amount of dank grassiness. It has a musty grape quality, along with a slight, starchy burn. But the above average sweetness (which I'm a sucker for) really saves it, and actually makes the greeness quite enjoyable. I end up with much more stone fruit on the tongue to go along with the tropical fruit flavors. The unique Sabro quality is still there, but much more mashed into everything else and, here, ends up being just a touch medicinal...or bug spray-ish...I can't really nail it down, exactly. If I tasted this without having smelt it first, I would likely be much more puzzled by it and enjoy it less. But the uniqueness of the aroma profile and consistency on the tongue make for a really enjoyable drinking experience, overall. And again, the level of sweetness is just about perfect for my palate.

Softy, silky, and a little above average in terms of consistency (hat tip to the oats, I assume) -- slightly chewy and very coating, but not sticky at all. The aftertaste is tropical all the way, with just at touch of pithy and resiny bitterness hovering below the sweetness.

I like this one a lot, though I could see it turning off folks looking for a more traditional dose of haze.

Undated can. Per Instagram, canned around 1/29/21.

L: Pours a deep yellow with a frothy head that eventually films. Sticky, clumpy lacing.

S: Vaguely tropical. A little suntan lotion. It's pleasant, but muted.

T: More than vaguely tropical. Fruity up front. Coconut in the middle, but it's not obtrusive. Finishes with no bitterness, a bit of dryness, and some sticky sweetness. But not too sticky and not too sweet.

F: Medium to slightly heavy mouthfeel. Well carbonated.

O: A tasty tropical DIPA. Not a fan of coconut, but the Sabro is well utilized here.
