Poured from a 12-oz can, undated but purchased cold from the brewery, and kept cold for the past several days. I loved this beer on tap at the brewery — far and away the best of the eight beer styles I tasted there.
Appearance: A warm gold, with a white-gold head that lingered a couple minutes, slight lacing.
Nose: Fruity — perhaps pear; alcohol apparent.
Mouthfeel: Medium.
Attack: Very pleasant flavor consistent with the style, not so intense as to make it only a sipper. It tastes so nice that, apart from the high ABV, I could consider it a session beer -- the alcohol would sneak up on you, though!.
Finish: A bit dry, with no unpleasant aftertaste.
Overall: Very nice ale. I actually prefer this to Duvel, the dean of the style. Nice job, Lariat!

A: The beer is clear dark golden yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with just thin collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of candi sugar are present in the nose along with notes of Belgian yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of Belgian yeast and candi sugar are more on par with each other.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and slick on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems to be a little sweeter compared to others in the style but does a rather good job at masking most of the alcohol from the taste.
