On tap at Noble Shepherd Craft Brewery in Bristol, NY.
This one pours a dark-ish black, with a small off-white head, and no lacing.
Smells like earthy vanilla, smoky malt, heavy roast, and just a hint of coffee.
This was the best thing I tried at Noble Shepherd, and the only thing I went back for a pint for after getting a flight of all the beers. It had a surprising amount of flavor for 1) a new brewery and 2) such a low ABV. The coffee flavor is subtle, but nice- roasty and chocolate, with some semi-sweet earthy vanilla bean, and roasted malt, and a hint of smoke.
The body is surprisingly full- I expected this to be pretty thin.
This is a pretty solid local stout- I would certainly get this again if I ever saw it.
