Two and a half inches of khaki head quickly turns rocky and holds for several minutes, eventually settling at one-half inch for the duration. The beer is very dark amber/bright copper (SRM 13-16) and clear. Small patchy lace is deposited on a PBGC Sparkles (Dimpled) mug.
The aroma is rather soapy up front, with roasted malt well in the background. Faint notes of coffee and chocolate are present. Warmth subdues the soapiness, allowing spice to be revealed.
The flavor is similar to wheat bread or wheat crackers. Nuts add a nice touch of peanut butter husk, brazil and hazel nuts. The finish is long and mildly bitter. Balance is tight, while warmth released sweetness.
A medium body and smooth metallic texture. Alcohol is well controlled and carbonation is fizzy.
This was a nice beer for a snowy May day. I'll finish the crowler while watching a play read on Zoom featuring the rising young NY actor, Michael Tremaine.
