Canned 10/23/17
Pours a light fluffy 1/2 finger head that fades at a med pace, little lacing, dark molasses murky brown color
NOse plenty of toasted brown malts, brown sugar, a bit of molasses, caramel, toffee, a touch of sweet potato in the background, with a mild estery alcohol
Taste brings more sweet flavors, brown sugar, caramel, molasses, a bit of toffee candy, etc, mild sweet potato again thankfully not overpowering, a creamy base malt with the toasted biscuity brown malts all over, a bit of earthy spicy bitterness on the back end, with a mild sticky finish and lingering toasted brown malts and candy flavors
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy, decent carb
Overall not bad, a definite dessert beer to have after or with pie, thankfully not too much sweet potato and in fact I actually kinda want more to come through as it's so light, and maybe a bit too sweet overall, and bitterness was nice until that nagging spicy bitterness on the finish.

16 oz. canned on 10-23-17
Pours dark mahogany red brown with a frothy khaki colored foam head. Smells like dried fruits, dark toasted biscuity nutty grainy malts, dark caramel, fruity molasses, dark maple, sweet potato, with floral herbal earthy grassy pine. Tastes like dark toasted bready biscuity nutty grainy malts, dark caramel, fruity molasses, dried fruits, dark maple, some sweet potato, with floral herbal earthy grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy and slick with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice sweet potato brown ale.

I will start by saying that this is my favorite dark malt style beer by castle island. I would consider this to be more of a porter than a brown ale tbh. Very smooth and pillowy feel with notes of burnt coffee. The aftertaste is great. I’m not usually into brown ales but this one is a nice exception.

Light brown color and apparently clear. Small head that settles to rim bubbles. It does leave two rings of lace with a couple of spots thereafter.
First impression on the smell is of milk chocolate powder on a winters day. In a word, cocoa.
This could be described as a thinner version of a dark Porter. This is the most flavorful Brown ale I've ever had. Low of bitter chocolate notes. I imagine there's a decent amount of black patent malt given the burnt coffee in the background. Long, dry, deeply toasted bread aftertaste. Thin bodied with an above average carbonation level. Overall, one of the most interesting Browns ever.

Pint served at East Boston Marketplace Cafe.
Great looking lace, love the clarity as well. Nutty with a lightly sweet malty and caramel nose. Very smooth, easy to knock back. Nutty, malty, toasty, dried hay, bread crust, and some ripe fruit are all on the palate. Modest hopping, enough to balance. Kiss of warmth in the long lingering malty finish.

Pours a clear dark amber brown color with a finger of khaki head. The head settles into a ring around the glass, leaving some splotchy lacing as it dissipates.
The aroma brings lots of caramel and roasted grains, as well as some lactose and subtle piney hops.
The taste follows the nose. Caramel and cereal grains, followed by some brown sugar sweetness. Finishes with a dance of piney hops and baked dough. As the beer warms, the sweet potato notes come out.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and smooth, with some faint lingering bitterness from the hops.
Overall, a very good brown ale. Not sure about the characterization as a "Fruit/Vegetable" beer, as this is unequivocally a brown ale, but either way it's a great beer with a lot of flavor, yet it's very drinkable.
