this is super dank, and the world needs more rye ipa. ive been heavy into the style lately, and this is an awesome example of it. has a very east coast sort of look to it, with a dull orange glow and an inch of white head, lots of haziness but no visible sediment. it smells like citra hops all the way, and with the more cereal aspect of the rye, both elements are bright and lively, super fresh, and boldly dosed. i like malt bills this high in pale rye malt, it brings out a cool texture and flavor that comes on late. i always think its interesting with hops too, because the hops are back of the drink too, so the whole experience is like a constant escalation, very cool. sweet orange peel, fresh lemon, pineapple and mango come to mind from the hops, its very fruity and juicy, and the rye is pungent too, peppery and substantial. it reminds me of a bigger, much more bitter one claw from westbrook, which is an extremely high compliment. never heard of arts district before this one, but this is a mighty impressive introduction. i wish i had this available to me here in colorado, its really dynamic and robust and a great night cap beer or first beer of the morning, enormously versatile and delicious. A level.

Consumed on draft at brewery during soft open on December 6th, 2015.
Clear amber-golden with a fine white head that provides sheeting in passing that doesn't linger.
Aroma of pine resin, pepper and sticky herbs.
Flavor is assertive with pepper and pine up front. A little sweet and grassy towards the middle and then very bitter on the finish.
Mouthfeel is a little prickly and likewise dry. Medium bodied.
Not a bad IPA, but I feel like I had my tongue scraped.
