a beautifully packaged and tasty, if young, wild beer from these guys. its peach based, its vinous, its delicate, and its quite good, although the bacterial element is way ahead of any bretty or funky saison element at this point, perhaps age will reconcile the two a little bit. i am surprised to read it was in barrels for 18 months, the wood is there, but the level of maturity in the brett doesnt seem to be, unless it went mostly acid on them, the barrels must have housed a more acidity producing agent, not a bad thing, just a surprising thing for how old the beer actually is. the peach part is nice in nose and taste, concentrated, natural, not at all sweet at any point. strong white wine, green pear, and lemon notes, more subtle cheesy funk, dried apricot, and white vinegar. drinkable, not too sour for that, medium bodied but not really grainy in the taste in any meaningful way, and very bubbly, which helps as well. im glad its as dry as it is, was hoping for more funky brett in this, or maybe a different strain of brett would have yielded a less sour more farmy brew, but this may age brilliantly in the bottle. only time will tell...
