L: Pours a dark red with hints of orange and pink, pours with a medium white head and no lacing on the glass.
S: Notes of cherry, blackberry, ripe pineapple, some wheat and a bit of hefeweizen yeast, quite reminiscent of sangria.
T: Fluffy wheat, cherry, blackberry, ripe pineapple, a hint of red wine, and a note of hefeweizen yeast, light flavor but easy drinking and pleasant.
F: Light and fluffy, very easy drinking.

a weird one from these guys and definitely not my favorite of their recent work. its a wheat base, aged in red wine barrels, and brewed with guava, blood orange, and currants, designed to sort of mimic sangria, if you couldnt tell from the name. its cloudy and pink, very thick from the tap, looks too heavy to be refreshing but i wait to judge. the nose is astringent from some wild element in the ferment and from the currants, slightly medicinal, but also fresh and attractive. i smell some piquancy too, some acidity from the orange and maybe a little bit of a bacterial element. not sure what guava really smells like, but this has tropical energy. the flavor isnt as good as the nose, its a little muddled and a little kitchen sinky, the fruits all sort of come to one, and there is more barrel and wheat character here than it could handle and still be refreshing, good but against the original mission it seems. some tannins and lots of the red wine fruitiness too, not disagreeable at all, but how much of this could anyone really drink? its tart at the same time that it finishes sweet from the fruit, odd overall, but unique. ive been pretty intrigued by most of the jessup farm stuff so far...
