A bit of a unique brew; an IPA actually fermented in bourbon barrels, dry-hopped with Calypso, and conditioned with Blood Orange juice.
Served in 16oz stemmed goblet. Poured a murky pale orange color with 3/4 inch of white head that had good retention and lacing.
The oak was noticeable, but not dominant, as the hops took the lead in the nose.
On the tongue though, the beer got a lot more involved. The hops were much bolder, the oak and bourbon had bigger roles, and there was a sharpness on the end that may have been from the yeast.
The body was medium, and had a dry finish.
Drinkability was good, but this is a sippin' beer, not one you quaff in a hurry. this brew has too much going on. Overall, an interesting and unique brew. A must try if you see it.
