A black IPA but almost stout-like. Enjoyed on tap at brewery.

Pours a plum-tinted near-black color with a half-finger of dark khaki head. Solid lacing.
Sickly-sweet overripe orange, chocolate and paint thinner in the nose.
Big chocolate bitterness dominates the taste: cocoa powder, char, ash — and then some of the sweet orange behind. Just a hint of alcohol solvent.
Medium bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation.
The aroma and taste are mirror opposites, and I’m definitely happy that the taste is the darker of the two.

16oz can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color, with a bit over a half-inch of dark khaki head that had moderate retention and good lacing.
The aroma was a bit light on the roast I generally expect in the style, but did have a very pleasant chocolate note. The expected hop blast was also a bit more subdued than anticipated.
Very similar on the tongue, the flavors were more subtle and well-rounded than the usual blunt-edge attack most brewers use. There was a nice hop bite on the finish.
The body was light-medium, and finished dry. drinkability was surprisingly good for what is one of my lesser liked styles. Overall, a very nice brew. This may be what a "Murkbomb-Black-IPA" tastes like. It which case, it may save both styles for me. You should grab it if you see it.
