For a beer with coconut, it maintains a dense head for a while. Aromas of vanilla, ginger snaps and eggnog with nutmeg sprinkled on top. Flavors of boozy barrel, warm fruity nutmeg, bittersweet chocolate batter with toasted coconut.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin dark brown head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, fudge, dark chocolate, coconut and mild vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bourbon, coconut, vanilla and dark chocolate, a bit boozy. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A rich, full flavored stout that I would characterize as a Russian imperial style. The aroma is surprisingly chocolatey, considering that it isn't a flavor adjunct. Quite bourbon forward, but with such a depth of malt that although hot, the bourbon is supported very well. The flavoring coconut and vanilla characters are clear notes, but well balanced with the chocolate malt. There is a faint spicy note, but I'm not able to identify it as nutmeg, which is apparently part of the additions. An excellent, deeply flavored stout with pleasant creaminess and a well selected and balanced flavor adjuncts. I will be looking for this one again. Excellent.
