Poured from 16oz can into a tulip. No date on the can. Not related to the quality of the beer, but -- I have had thousands of beers in my day, and this one *definitely* has the most hard-to-read label -- and I'm not even red-green colorblind.
Appearance: very dark, murky brown, with a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. Not quite entirely black, but still, very attractive.
Smell: lightly sweet, with a fair dose of chocolate and roast. Though not complex, the aroma is pretty rich -- I like it.
Taste: hmm, roasty and just a bit astringent. There's just a hint of dark fruit flavor developing -- it's not quite there, but it's getting close. I think this is a decent example of an "American stout" -- if not a full realization of one.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a nice carbonation and quite a nice creaminess. The texture feels a bit light initially, but the creaminess is nice and well-rounded. Good stuff!
Overall: I like this beer, but I feel like it doesn't quite reach the complexity level required for greatness. That said, if you are a fan of a classic american stout, then check it out!

L: Dark black with a coffee head, well retained and foamy. Solidly dark and hearty.
S: Chocolate, nut, and wood. Roasted barley. Nothing overpowering.
T: Smooth warm melted chocolate on a graham cracker, but not forthright. Very balanced and smooth, a lighter ale than expected.Creamy and carbonated, close enough to nitro.
F: So close to nitro with a velvet, tight bubbled silkiness. Full without being intensely heavy. Boozy absolutely as an American Stout.
