can into glass
Moderate, fairly quickly dissipating, white head. Quite cloudy, glowing, medium orange, with a little golden tint, for the look. Fresh and crisp, fruity/banana aroma, with a clove note, for the aroma. Crisp, mineral like, mixed fruit flavor, with a whiff of clove, for the taste.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy, medium yellow-gold with a one finger white head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of wheat, clove, banana and a touch of lemon; classic hefeweizen profile. Flavor is wheat, lemon and clove, thinning out to a grainy wheat and clove finish, leaving the spicing somewhat stark on the palate. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. This hefe starts quite nicely with characteristic wheat and clove, but the finish is a little thin in malt flavors. Although the look and smell where almost spot-on, the taste was like an amped up American wheat ale more than a hefeweizen. A pleasant wheat ale, but needs a bit more malt depth. Kudos to the can label designer, very attractive and appealing illustration.

Just a slight haze in the amber brew with plenty of foam in the tall Maredsous goblet. Rather sweet and full-bodied. Abundant German aromatics with less intensity than many examples of the style. But you wouldn't mistake it for anything but a Hefeweizen. Moderate bitterish aftertaste like less-than-fresh spice.
Overall this is thoroughly drinkable, if a little stodgy. From the 16 oz can purchased at the Community Coop. I don't see a date but I've had it in the refrigerator a few months I suspect.

Served in 16oz plastic cup (damn you Covid!). Poured a fully hazy dark yellow color with just a half-inch of white head that had low retention and lacing.
The scent and taste both lacked the banana and clove that typify the style, but did have a nice grain base, topped with a low yeast presence.
The body was smooth and even, with a medium finish.
Drinkability was good, refreshing on a warm afternoon.
Overall, while it's very nice to see a local brewery making this style, hopefully they can dial up the next batch to give it a bit more personality. Still, worth a shot if you see it.
