Imperial stout selected from a single Four Roses bourbon barrel. Conditioned on heaps of Dutch processed dark cacao and a beautiful touch of orange zest.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a half finger milk chocolate head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, chocolate, whiskey and a hint of orange. Flavor is dark toasted malt, dark chocolate, light whiskey and faint orange. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and silky mouth feel. A chocolate forward stout with light, but fine whiskey barrel character. The orange is quite mild and I might have missed it if I wasn't expecting it. When it shows up in the finish, the resemblance to one of the "crack it open" Terry's dark chocolate oranges is remarkable. It needs a little more orange to match exactly, but the semi-sweet chocolate and faint orange are similar. Sweet, but bit quite dessert stout level. Very enjoyable. The wax on the bottle was like plasticized concrete and nearly impossible to remove, but once it's open, it's very nice. Looks great too.
