Pours bright, new-penny copper with a light haze (SRM 11- 15). The head forms two and a half inches of off-white foam that slowly recedes, leaving a sticky translucent coating of lace. Fine columns of rapidly moving carbonation can be seen within the Böckling fisheye pint.
The aroma is all about malt, sweet with caramel and lightly toasted grain.
Mild bitterness is accompanied by slight sweetness up front. The malt carries forward from the aroma, although it is more toasted than caramel and a bit earthy. Bitterness is a constant through and long into the slightly astringent finish.
The medium body has a loose, knit wool texture. Fizzy carbonation. Alcohol is as expected. Interestingly, the body thins out with warmth.
This is a solid beer with which one could easily enjoy a couple of rounds with a buddy or while shooting pool after a day in the office.

I grabbed this in the LCBO on an impulse just to see what an “English” style beer would be like over here. Previous examples have been disappointing, not from the flavours in themselves but because they’ve been absolutely nothing like anything back home. This beer, however, is delicious and close to bitters or pale ales that I’ve tasted in the UK.
I drank this close to room temperature because I only gave it 30 minutes in the fridge but I think that helped bring out the subtle flavour profile.
There’s a subtle sweetness from the malt and slight caramel notes. Little bitterness but that suites this style.
I love this and will seek it out again. I’d love to taste this on a hand pulled pump in a pub.

Can - poured a deep reddish tawny brown with a frothy lasting off white cap...once in a while you get a real unexpected surprise....like finding a jewel when you expected nothing but clay...this is such a beer....one of the best examples of an artisan English Best bitter ale I have ever sampled on this side of the big drink....aromas are demure but slightly complex with toasty grain, caramel, stone fruit and wet hay all amalgamating in a mild pleasing aroma....flavor follows aroma with non-cloying toasty caramel malts, fruit tones and sharp bittering all combining in a rounded crisp flavor emulsion on the palate.....goes clean, slightly dry and bitter in the finish..a very pleasing, drinkable well made English best bitter...will buy whenever I see it available

Bright like a jewel, burnt orange/amber, clear, with a big, airy head, great retention, off-white.
Not much scent, some pale malt and minerals.
Caramel malt taste, burnt caramel, but all lightly flavoured, balanced well by hop bitterness that is there for just that , and not to provide any distinct flavour; medium body and carbonation; very dry finish.
Not bad for the style, but malt could use more character and presence.

A quite unremarkable brew. Color of dark tea with a modest head, no lacing. Very mild aroma and taste of caramel malt with a gentle bitterness to finish. Super plain across the board.

The beer has a thick beige head that dissipates quickly.
This brew is copper coloured and somewhat hazy.
I don’t detect much of an aroma except for a hint of maltiness.
The taste, on the other hand, is caramel maltiness, some brown bread, and mild hoppy bitterness.
The beer is medium bodied.
The mouthfeel is prickly and the finish wet and smooth.
I liked this and would certainly recommend trying it.

Pours a lovely amber in color with a full two fingers of head. Retention is decent, and upon break a few islands here and there. Not much in the way of lacing.
Smell is led by malts, biscuits and bread. Then I get some mild fruit, and then some mild tea. Overall the smell is quite mild.
Taste is similar to the nose, but I find that tea presence a bit bolder. Hops are present enough to notice, but the malts are king here.
Feel is medium light with decent carbonation. The finish is a little off for me though...I am left with a weird bitter and vegetal taste.
A beer that fits it's category, definitely an English ale. However, it seems to fall down a little in the flavor and feel. I'm not sure I would have this again.

Light brown and slightly hazy with a little fine bubbled carbonation, topped with 4 fingers of beige head.
Smells of light toasted malts, and new plastic.
Tastes of caramel, light toasted malts, slight fruitiness, fart, and a little bitterness.
Medium body, with light carbonation.
Drinking by Lake Muskoka, April 2nd, 2018. Passed by the Niagara Escarpment today. The brew does the job, but isn't as smooth as the style tends to be.

Review from brief notes. LCBO purchase for around $3 CDN. Served well chilled into a pint glass.
Appearance - Dark ruby, some clarity and a nice looking finger and a half of off-white head sits on top. Slightly above average head retention.
Smell - Some subtle caramel malt and leafy hops. Some breadiness as well. Not a big nose, but appropriate style wise.
Taste - Leafy hops, mild bitterness, English black tea is on my mind here. Some toasted grains throughout for balance.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, carbonation was about right, maybe a touch over. Pretty easy to drink and finishes moderately dry.
Overall - Certainly a good English pale ale, but there's something here I can't put my finger on, that just didn't wow me. Drinkable and enjoyable, but not terribly memorable.

Apearance: Poured with a thumb and a half of head that produced a solid amount of lace and retained quite well. The body is a light brown with ruby highlights that boasts little in the way of carbonation.
Smell: Caramel malt with an Earthy hops backdrop. That's about it. Didn't really need in the way of warming and the potency is right, but it just seems very basic.
Taste: A nice dose of caramel malt permeates the entire beer and works wonders to reign in the earthy hop note that the beer finishes with drawing both flavors to a nice conclusion.
Mouthfeel: The carbonation is a bit light and there really isn't much in the way of transistioning. The mild malt and hop aftertaste is a bit subdued with the hops asserting dominance and building on themselves. That said, it's a slow build that doesn't take much away from the beer.
Drinkability: Just barely within the confines of what I would call a lighter beer, and pushing the edge of medium bodied. It's refreshing and easy to drink with a degree of crispness.
Final Thoughts: A pretty solid pale ale, although disappointed me a bit when I quaffed it as I initially thought it would be a malty English Brown. Oh well. I can really see this one going well with seafood so thumbs up.

From a 473ml can. Pours clear copper coloured with an off white head. Aroma: caramel, some fresh bread and grassy hops. Flavour: Creamy, caramel, some stone fruit. Hopping light but balance good. Body quite light as per style.
