I bought a can at the lcbo in Ontario 355ml at 4.3%.
poured a 1finger head into glass that left a lace as you drink it.
very nice tasting lager beer with hints of malty caramel almost simalier to the Caledon hills Vienna lager but lighter
refreshing and enjoyable to drink.
very easy light lager beer.
cheers

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 13 2019 and served well chilled. I can't put my finger on it, but something about this label is super nostalgic to me. Maybe it's because the art style looks like the cover of an early print paperback novel, the sort you'd find in an elementary school library.
Pours golden-yellow with a slightly foggy complexion, topped with nearly one finger of frothy, foamy white head that dissipates in less than two minutes' time. A thin collar of soapy bubbles is the only remnant of note, with no lacing in sight; looks like a light lager, I guess. It smells of grain husk, crackery wheat malt sweetness and apples, with hints of grassy hay and lemon zest adding some semblance of depth to the bouquet.
A serviceable craft lager - I'm getting grainy malts and a wheaty, bready sweetness at the front end, with hints of apples, grass and hay coming through towards the finish. Grassy hay and a light doughy sweetness carry on into a brief aftertaste that trends towards off-dry. Light in body, though not nearly as fizzy or thin as many examples of this style; the carbonation is firm and prickly, providing a decent bite right down to the last gulp. Exceedingly drinkable, as you'd expect for a light lager.
Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. It's not exactly the most interesting beer that Manitoulin has put out, but Haw Eater's Brew is still a fine light lager in its own right. Certainly more flavourful than the macro equivalents, which might have to do with the fact that it was brewed with malted wheat and barley (no corn/rice/other adjunct at all). Despite being above average for its style, the truth is that I'd rather drink their Killarney Cream Ale or Swing Bridge Blonde over this beer any day of the week. Light lager enthusiasts should consider this one a must-try, while other BAs should see it as a safe, likely forgettable tick.
