we need to add a mexican lager category here on BA, they arent all adjunct or vienna, and even though this has some corn in it i think, i am reluctant to lump it into that category. in any event, its great beer, my favorite of the three i had when i visited this impressive taproom last week. crystal clear yellow liquid with a lasting inch of white foam on top and frantic carbonation, looks super active and excited and refreshing, and sure enough it is! nose is minimal, fresh on the malt side, a touch sweet from the corn, a little european thing there too, some pils malt, crackery and snappy, a hint of citrus from the mexican lager yeast, and some lightly spicy hops but mellow, good balance, snappy and clean. the flavor is the same, some grassy and tea-like character from the hops, a little lime note too, and then the dry cereal character of the grain all the way, its simple but its dialed in, and it really hits out in their awesome backyard area on a gorgeous spring day. thirst quenching and brisk and drinkable without being bland or boring, tough to do, but overall a very nicely executed example of this style.
