This new version of our signature American Pale Ale pours a light orange haze and showcases the diversity of the El Dorado hop. An inviting, tropical nose of red grape and lime zest leads to palate bursting with flavors of hop driven pear, underripe pineapple, orange sherbet, and honeydew melon rind. Medium bodied, El Dorado FPPA features has clean finish with a grassy tingle for balance.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium Brewery in Canton for about seventeen dollars. My thirty ninth brew reviewed from these guys. I am kind of indifferent on el dorado, & this review reflects that. Fine, nothing.

IPA's have become so tropical, so rich, so bready and so herbal that in my twenty years of beer involvement, I can hardly tell the difference between IPA and Hefeweizen anymore.
Trillium further blurs these lines with their wheat heavy Fort Point hazy Pale Ale as it pours with the same turbid matte finish on a burnish straw austere. As a ivory meringue forms above, a candied scent of hops comes in a Pez-like package; fruity, floral and soaken in honeysuckle nuances. A rich malt profile blankets the early palate with pastry, dough and agave.
The famed El Dorado hops blossom on the middle palate as the malts begin to acquiesce its sweetness in favor of the dried pineapple, melon and rife citrus flavors. Trending slightly more herbal as the ale approaches the late palate, subtle notes of hemp, parsley and fresh spruce which are remiss of gin-like botanicals. All the while, the undercurrent of wheat create a stubborn but sound cereal base throughout.
Gentle bitterness decorates the finish as the ale trends malty-dry and surrounded with candied citrus. A medium length after palate of cereal and spruce marginally out nudge the whimsical fruit character.

Not a huge fan of this - a little to earthy with the El Dorado. But having a meh trillium is kind of like having bad pizza or bad sex. Pretty damned good either way. Just not the best you've had. Tastes a bit fruity, but alot of moss, dirt, grass.
