Past, Present, Pretzel is an IPA features a hefty amount of wheat middlings from One Mighty Mill along with our standard pale malt, American Two Row, while it's hop bill is 100% Citra. Middlings are a highly nutritious, protein rich, non-flour product of the wheat milling process. Through this delicious collaboration we celebrate conservation and a symbiotic relationship between miller and brewer. The project started with wheat grown in Maine and milled in Massachusetts (“past”), it became a juicy, crisp IPA that you’re drinking or soon to drink (“present”), and post-brew-day we sent the spent grain back up to Lynn for the baking crew to make pretzels out of (“pretzel”). Along with showcasing a fun and engaging new recipe, we hope Past, Present, Pretzel gives us all a chance to think about local systems and economies that are supported by creative conservation.
Pouring a golden yellow color with above average haze, Past, Present, Pretzel swirls engaging tropical aromas of papaya, pineapple, diced cantaloupe, lemongrass and fresh citrus. The palate develops these flavors extending further with notes of ruby red grapefruit, honeydew, mixed berries, and ripe summer peaches. Accentuated by a light multigrain malt character and a rounded bite of pine, Past, Present, Pretzel has a medium body with a balanced and enjoyably mouthwatering finish.

A perfectly well-balanced Trillium style NEIPA/IPA. Smooth and yummy. Couldn't taste the pretzels ;-). Would definitely drink it if it ever comes around again.

On tap. White head with lace. Super hazy orange juice color.
Bitter. You can tell it’s very fresh. Very hoppy with a light hop burn. Floral and earthy. Orange, mango, melon.
Good, but maybe a bit too fresh.

16 oz. can. Hazy yellow. Smells of sweet fruits like peach and papayas and some zesty citrus. Tastes sweet right up front, but spikes with citrus zest and pine, which then gives way to sweet tropical fruit hops again. A little bit of pale malt. No bitterness. Very tasty.

Very pretty pull on draft at the canton brewery. Radian murk with light lacing. Nose has a ripe pineapple nose as described - almost a bit of melon at first. Really nice taste, although missing some of the dryness and bite of trillium’s classic hoppy beers. I always prefer a little contrast to the juice bomb. I do enjoy wheat in my hoppy beers, but this one seems to be missing a bit of that malt’s slight tanginesss. Mouthfeel is great and helps add nuance as it warms.

This one pours a very hazy golden and milky yellow, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like an over-hopped murky Citra bomb, which is exactly what it is. There's melon and tropical fruit, and no bittering aromas to help balance it out.
This is fairly muddled, unfortunately - I think the wheat middlings kind of mucked it up. There's no bitterness at all, and it's not juicy enough to be a palatable joosebomb. It's alright, but nothing I need again, really.
This is light bodied, and very creamy, with an overly sweet muddled finish.
This is quite far from the best Trillium beer I've had lately.
