A bit of a surprise after looking at my review of the regular version. This beer dots I's and crosses T's on the IIPA style. Nice citrus notes with a bit of sweetness from the extra malt. A grapefruit with pith bitterness in the end. It does run a tad sweet overall, but just within bounds.
A little on the cloudy side, but orange with a nice head and some lacing.
Nose has a lovely lightly sweet citrus to tropical note. Grapefruit initially and with a deep whiff, that scent wins out.
Taste is candied citrus and non-candied citrus rind. The maltiness has its moments where it starts to get to me, but a sip later I'm okay with it. Feel started a tad hot, but was in line once it warmed.
