On tap at brewery:
Pours a clear dark amber. Medium thick ring of frothy bubbles lasts the glass, no lacing.
Nose is caramel with a sweet toffee note, light hints of vanilla and barely a whiff of bourbon.
Taste is similar, but with a little weaker strength in all aspects. I get a little more earthiness and a little less sweet than I did from the nose. Toffee with a little bourbon twist in some sips, but weighed against generic barrel notes.
Listed as being aged on whiskey barrels, this is a solid version by a brewery I've only visited once before. I wavered on going slightly higher, even, but there was just something I can't explain keeping it from that next level.
