Irish Coffee Stout

32 ounce Crowler from the brewery.

This beer is deep root beer brown with a tan head that quickly settles to a creamy ring around the glass. It also has small creamy swirls on top as if creamer were just stirred in. A robust and roasty nose is dominated by fresh coffee grinds but other small aromas, sweet cocoa and bourbon barrel, open up as it warms. As with the nose the taste is big coffee along with more recessive flavors, bourbon, oak, and and small amounts of vanilla and chocolate as it warms. Crisp and slightly boozy at first it mellows as it warms but retains a bitter finish that seems to be mostly from hops. The body and carbonation are both medium. This drinks somewhat like a Dry Irish Stout.
