a beautiful variant of their impressive solera saison, aged on second use balaton cherries apparently, and nicely tart, more so than the original, but not overly fruited either. a muted pink shade, rose pink, floral and sexy in appearance, with a short white head on it and a summery aroma of ripe berries and mature brett, still woody and interesting like their solera saison, this may have that bokkereyder yeast in it, although im not sure i got that story straight. the flavor is awesome, defintiely cherry and not berry now, but with a raspberry tang to it as well it seems, a little tannic but never sour at all, and fuller bodied, its not so fruited that we cant appreciate the wheat that its built on. i like that the fruit is distinct but subtle enough to let the yeast still be the leader here, that is, after all, the part of this that i am most interested in. a touch of sweet to the cherry too, a cherry pie sort of tartness, and high carbonation that makes it feel very alive. i was amazed by this and its base beer, definitely two of the best beers these guys have done to date, and i bet there are some other killer fruit versions on the way, it seems so perfectly constructed for that. i cant wait!
