'English style' barleywine ale aged for 12 months in two barrels; one French Imported VSOP Cognac Barrel, and one George Dickel Bourbon Barrel. As regal as his namesake, expect malty richness and notes of creme brûlée & nutty toffee with a showcase of American Oak vanillins and toasty marshmallow along with fruity Cognac flavors pushing ester fruit qualities with toffee sweetness - much as the Peach Bourbon barrel did last year.

This one pours a golden dark brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells fantastic on the nose, with some light dry dark fruitiness, caramel, spicy oak, creme brulee, vanilla, toffee, and chocolate.
The interplay of the two barrels is fantastic here - the cognac adds a dry grape and dark fruit (plum?) flavor, almost like dried fruit leather, along with even some port and tobacco. The bourbon adds your usual vanilla and caramel, a bit of dry spice. They play on top of the base so well, with the oak diving into the caramel, toffee, and chocolate.
This is medium bodied, rich, and not boozy at all, which is astonishing.
This whole series is as good as it gets for barleywine - this is just so well done.
