An idea created by a small group of our From the Vault members, this special batch of Blender’s Insurance spent 9 months in a single Old Tom Gin Barrel from Spring 44 Distillery. Flavors of sliced grapefruit, coriander, juniper, and other more faint gin botanicals meld smoothly with the fruit and spice of Blender’s and are gently encouraged by softer than expected American Oak.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like tart grapefruit, lemon zest, gin, juniper, white wine, and oak.
The gin barrel really transforms this nicely, with grapefruit, tea, juniper, oak, and lemon, with some wheat and white wine-like flavors, even though it’s gin barrel aged.
This is light bodied, with a manageable acidity, and a good drinkability.
Westbound and Down is most well known for their barrel aged stouts, barleywines, strong ales, etc, but they also do wild ales pretty well, too.
