Paddle into summer with this bright and breezy brew. Canoe Juice Shandy is our riff on the classic lemonade beer, blending the citrusy brightness of a traditional shandy with the smooth, full-bodied character of a hazy ale. This brew skips the bitterness in favour of juicy flavour and a soft, easy-drinking finish. Bright notes of lemon and subtle raspberry float through a light pink, hazy body, bringing all the backyard lemonade stand nostalgia, with a distinctly grown up twist.

Poured from 473mL can into a tumbler glass.
Appearance: kind of an orangey-pink hue with a moderate haze and a finger of eggshell foam atop. It’s definitely what it says on the tin!
Smell: kind of a light malt with a decent lemon and raspherry character. It’s actually a pretty well-done take on a raspberry shandy; I like it.
Taste: a mild, but present, malt, with a bit more emphasis on the lemon in the flavor than in the aroma. The raspberry comes through, and is a rather earthy component to the mix. It’s not quite as successful as the aroma, but still not too bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: at 7%, this stuff is pretty dangerous, although as I drink more of it I can sort of get a hint of the booze in here. Definitely a good drink in the summertime, but whoo, look out!
