Silky dense beige head (looks like a nitro pour) that leaves a chunky ring of lace after each sip with minor streaks in between. Dark brown but light does pass through the center of the glass. Appears clear.
Semisweet chocolate aroma. Very little chalk. Some cream and neutral bitterness in the background.
The carbonation is elevated slightly while the body neutral to thin. The taste is dryer than the smell suggests, closer to fully dark. There’s the neutral bitterness which seems to be a combination of hop and burnt malts. I don’t get any coffee.

A decent porter for enjoying the second full day in Florida; but it rained and drizzled all today. Purchased at Total in Naples.
Nothing particularly distinctive about Jolene. But somebody must like her to average 4. ratings. So, I'll just let them to their opinions and say that Jolene hit the spot.
As for my micro-review of Bent Water... They don't seem out of the ordinary for America's 8,000 micros. But Bent Water is in its 7th year and that is the signal to get the itch to become something more... so let's see how they change. Personally, I'd like to see some success in the Belgian tradition and get closer to the kitchen. Cheers !

A very mild porter...
...So mild that though it was a decent flavor it was very mild, you had to really try to taste it and see what it was all about. Mouthfeel was a tad watery, and the smell was mostly non-existent. A low ABV porter that could probably use a make-over with a higher alcohol content.

On tap at the Luna Theatre in Lowell. Ordered by accident, but what a happy accident! One of the best American Porters I’ve had. Milk chocolatey , roasted coffee, caramel awesomeness.

12oz canned 1/10/17. Black, brownish around lit edges, with a brown head that settles down. Smells of milk chocolate and roast. Tastes of bitter hops, roasted malt, milk chocolate, coffee. Mouthfeel is OK, a little creamy. Overall, IMO the hop bitterness was too strong (including aftertaste) and unbalanced with the other flavors. A good stout so worth trying it. I noticed that it does taste better at a warmer temperature.
