Poured from a can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear a very hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of just slightly off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a nice tropical fruit smell mixed with a whole lot of tangerine and orange. The tropical fruit is rather potent of a mango and pineapple aroma containing a bit of tangerine and mango as well. Along with these smells comes a touch of caramel and a little bit of grapefruit and floral hop

Taste – The taste begins with the sweeter tropical fruits of tangerine, pineapple, mango, and papaya that were detected in the nose as well as a bit of a doughiness and a moderate caramel malt taste. At the same there is a good showing of a ruby red grapefruit hop taste with this taste getting more and more potent as the taste moves forward. At the same time the tangerine, mango and pineapple get stronger as well, but at the expense to the caramel and doughy tastes. A bit of floral and herbal hop joins in at the very end, leaving one with a rather citrusy hopped and sweetened taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is medium. For the mix of flavors, the feel is rather nice and makes for a very easy sipping and tasty brew.

Overall – A rather nice easy drinking citrusy and tropically IPA. Well worth a try.

pours a slightly burnt orange gold body with a rocky froth foam off-white head that has moderately high retention and leaves copious amounts of thick sticky lacing as it settles to a rocky halo

aroma is tropical fruit with a herbal hop kicker. dried grass and lemon on the wings

taste is sweet tropical fruit (pineapple/mango/papaya), lemon, orange juice, dried grass, cooking herbs, and thick bready malt backbone

moderate carbonation and medium bodied, goes smooth throughout and finishes dry with an herbal bitter aftertaste

overall:
this is a pretty good IPA, though I'd love to find something that the brewery has written about it to explain the "double double" moniker. this is much better than their OG DDH, having a more well rounded profile overall and something resembling actual personality. it looks good, the aroma is somewhat lacking considering the dry hopped label (again), the taste is multifaceted and interesting, and the mouthfeel is very balanced. lemon and pineapple with herbal and grassy hops blossoming throughout and a solid bready malt backing it all up. solid entry from the Georgetown brewer.
