Collaboration with Barrel Theory Beer Company
ICYMI, BT (Barrel Theory) came by our house to brew some beer. Low and behold, we made some beer. A beer in the style of an IPA. A DDH DIPA, 2B exact. In order to make this beer a whole lotta special, we hopped it with Citra Cryo, Galaxy, Mosaic Cryo, and Strata hops. We also added a little something known as Turbinado Sugar.

Canned 05/14/19, '#BT'SISBETTER'.
A murky golden pour; not the most inviting color I've seen from a hazy, but looks aren't everything. The finger of white head that rises to the top and leaves lots of sticky lace as it settles was a good ending to the "visual storytelling".
The nose on this is great, with notes of sweet milk sugar playing with fruity aromas of mango, pineapple, melon, and wild berries. Very well balanced, with subtle undertones of floral hops sneaking through.
Big, bold, citrusy flavors. The hops contrast nicely with a stark potency of dank, grassy hops. The turbinado addition really helps smooth out any potential bitterness from the hop selection (a few of which are definitely bittering hops) and overall a very balanced beer all the way around.
Good smooth body, a tad thin but with a soft carbonation and sticky finish. Small traces of residual mouth-coating are left behind. ABV very well masked.

On tap at Modist.
White head. Lace. Hazy pale golden orange color.
A really nice balanced hazy ipa. It lets you know it’s an ipa, but is still very juicy and tropical. More of a mango, melon, honeydew profile. Earthy with a touch of floral. Light bitterness, but overall very soft.
It has a nice punch to let you know it’s a double but the abv is no where to be found.

Absolutely perfect in every category. I’m trying to find a flaw and can’t. It’s almost like the perfect beer; a flaw must exist but I can’t find it yet. BT and Modist did a perfectly balanced NE Hazy DIPA.
