Hazed. (naturally), dull golden color, lasting white head, leaving lace.
In the nose: Arousing blend of citrus and tropical fruit hops up in the aroma. Orange and pineapple and mango galore, all kept in check with unfiltered yeast. All murkied up.
In the mouth: Nice snap of hop bitterness smacks up the palate, then fades back. Mild and cool. Smooth. Creamy. Lush. Sweet. Scrumptious.
Bitterness goes away and it's nothing but easy peasy. If you like that. Ho hum.
It's tasty. Has a nice buzz. Giving off the old DIPA vibes, alcohol-wise.
This one is starting to grow on me, now. Big time. It's a funny thing with these new-fangled DDH DIPA hazies. They hit me in waves. Waves of boredom, waves of disappointment, then out of nowhere, I get it. They hit me with waves of hoppiness and bitterness, underneath all that murk and haze. Then the booze comes around. Redeeming qualities pop up out of nowhere, after being obscured by the tell-tale signs of this style I generally despise.

If I were on a desert island and it was the only beer available, I would rate it higher.

Had this on tap. Loved it. This review is for the canned version.
White head with lace. Hazy dark orange juice color.
Soft and juicy. Very tropical. Love the oats. Fluffy feel. Orange and melon galore. Some strawberry flavor. A bit earthy. Amazing feel to it. Such a banger.

So happy to see a lactose/milkshake-IPA without the lactose! Here we got OATMILK instead of COW'S MILK (Oatmilk is amazing by itself btw.) The oats are sacred. MODIST already uses MAD OATS for their DANK MALTS. Only makes sense to MILKIFY THE OATS instead of paying some stranger to tug on the tits of an enslaved animal for ya.
If you think about what beer is, it makes so much more sense to use the "milk" of grains (rice, oats, etc.) than the milk of an animal, since beer is such a grain-based beverage. I'll bet BARLEY-MILK is in development somewhere.
Warm and smooth, this beer is really something to behold. The oatmilk is DARKER than it's conventional animal-based counterpart. It binds to the malt more gracefully, IMO. To any skeptics of oat milk, I beg of you to compare the hangover! Drink 4 of these badboys on one night, feel the next-day-effects, and compare that to the next-day-effects of a lactose/milkshake IPA of a similar ABV. I remember when I used to drink fine wines; on the nights that I'd pair them with fine cheeses, I would be MUCH more hungover the next day. It's the dairy! We're much more equipped to digest milkified oats than we are the lactations of another species. This is the future. MODIST and BLACKSTACK know what's up. They're listening to consumer demand, and it is shifting with the times - away from the cows, towards the oats. DREKKER TAKE NOTE, get LOKI and THOR up on them OATS!
