Everything is off right now. The whole world seems to be upside down. Things are so strange that we’re putting a Kolsch into cans? A nice simple, clean Kolsch with no crazy hop additions, no off the wall adjuncts, and not a single acronym that we can add to it. You’re probably thinking that we were planning on just kegging this for the taproom but now that doesn’t make any sense so we decided to put it into cans. You’re right.

Introducing Amongst the Madness, a 4.5% Kolsch brewed with Weyermann Barke Pilsner malt and hopped with Sultana and Hallertau Mittelfruh. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.

Appearance: Pours slightly cloudy, yellow, large white head that lingers. SRM of 6. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of pale malts, yeast, funk, tart grape.

Flavor: Strong flavors of pale malts, white bread, yeast, tart grape and funk. Funky yeast linger. Dry.

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Finishes with a yeasty, dry finish.

Compared to Modist Supra Deluxe Special Reserve 4/2024: Pours clearer, milder head. Stronger aromas. More white bread, rice, sake. Less yeast, tart and funk. Smooth and sweeter.

Overall: This one has some wild yeast and a funk to it that makes it seem off. Didn't quite turn out right. (Rating: 3.33)

Can.

A really nice kolsch to have around during the times of pastry stout and haze bois. We have some Pilsners but this is a nice change of pace. Crisp and clean. Grassy. Citrusy. Some bready malts. Light bodied. A crusher for sure.
