From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This unique brew pours a chill
hazed red tinged auburn with a very nice head of off white foam
that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and sports some very nice lacing.
Nose of smoke, oak, and light grains with faint sweet malts. Flavors
follow the nose with oak, smoke, bread crust, and subtle caramel malts.
Mouth feel is medium light, smooth, medium light carbonation, and a
lightly dry finish.
Overall, a unique brew
Cheers

16 ounce can, date stamp is smudged but I can tell it was canned sometime in 2023. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a pilsner style glass, the beer pours a reddish/copper color with not quite an inch light tan head that stayed around for a while. Good amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like oak, smoke, caramel, dark bread and graininess. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some rye, grassy and a hint of citrus flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, definitely worth trying if you get the chance!

This pours a rich woody red , 1" brief head that settles to a thin ring but very good lacing. Pale in color, however, this is not, nor was it at any point in its life it seems. Nose is delicate with char, wood, roasted barley, and spicy hop. If my eyes were closed, my money would be that this was a Schwarzbier or Rotbier. Taste is subtly toasty and nutty with some mild sweetness from the roasted malt; not too much barrel, but a hint of smoke, which again pushes this into different territory for me. Mouthfeel has medium heft with soft carbonation. Would not tab this as a Helles if you have me a dozen choices, though I think the recent Schlenkerla Weichsel is a pretty good comp.

16 oz can canned 4/21/23 into a tall Lager glass.
L: Pours murky burnished red with a 2" khaki creamy head that has VG retention, lots of fine carbo bubbles, broken medium lacing.
S: Malty, a hint of sour green oak, light brown bread, raisins, cereal grains, honey, caramel.
T: Sweet caramel malts, moderately tart & juicy citrus, melon, toasted brown bread, cereal grains. The oak taste surrounding the beer has a distant vinegar note and distant smoke. It has a resinous linger that is kind of sour. Bold tastes overall.
F: Smooth, lightly juicy, creamy medium-bodied with a medium long smooth & drying finish.
O: It's a Rotbier! Sometimes oak can be nutty tasting or green. This example is green. I enjoy this beer at medium temperature, so I believe serving temp is critical as the malts are less muted by the wood this way. Great tasting and smoove. It is outstanding in its style.

Canned 4/21/23; drank 6/25/23 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque red/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a huge khaki head; frothy, tree-rung lace.
Autumn leaves, oak & cream notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Autumn leaf & oak flavors up front; mild cream notes on the finish.
Robust, creamy & enjoyable. I'd have another!

Appearance: Pours a slightly clouded, light and bright amber color with a large tan head. SRM of 14. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of Amber and bread melts, earthy Munich malt with a smoke and char woodsy aroma. Earthy, woodsy and oaky. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of char, smoked oak, earthy and woodsy bred malts. Some amber hues within the smoke. Ultimately finishes like an earthy helles with a bit of smoked and woodsy oak. (3.75)
Feel: Medium bodied strong carbonation smoky in lightly better off to finish. (4.00)
Compared to Utepils Helles 6/2023: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More oaky, smoke, char, amber malts. Less pale and floral. More bitter.
Overall: Interesting and unique beer as others have said. Drinks like a smoked and oak-aged helles with some hints of darker hues. Yet clean and bitter. Interesting, cool, and unique, and haven't had one quite like it. (Rating: 4.02)
