T: roasted barley, cola, caramel, earthy hops
F: medium body, ample carbonation, moderately bitter finish
O: this was good. Drinks more like a Schwarzbier in my opinion

A - Pours out an opaque black body with brown highlights, light tan head which fades to a thin cap. Lacing is extensive thin lined across the glass.
S - Strong hit of grassy hops with a note of roasted malts below, bread with a touch of char, like dark toast.
T - Opens with molasses bread malts, a bit of chocolate expands into the middle, as the toasted bread note runs through, and a slightly bitter, acidic bite in the finish.
M - Brisk start, strong carbonation, moderate weight, and clean, slightly dry finish.
O - This is a very solid dark beer. Lovely, drinkable, with a lot of lovely flavors. I need to try this with some BBQ.

Appearance: Pours a completely dark, nearly black color with a strong tan head. SRM of 23. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of dark malt, somewhat earthy and lightly roasted notes. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of black malt, dark, roast, and earthy note. Dark roast lingers with a bitterness. Dry finish. (4.00)
Feel: Medium body, appropriate, carbonation, finishes, dry, roasted and clean. (4.00)
Compared to Barrel Theory Dark Helmet 1/2024: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More dark chocolate and roast. Less smooth bread. Darker and more roasted.
Compared to MKE Pinsetter 1/2024: Pours similar, stronger aromas. More dry cocoa, dark roast. less bittersweet chocolate. Dryer, more roasted and cleaner.
Compared to Geisenbrau Nec
Phase Three Czech Dark: Similar pour, stronger aromas. More bitterness and roast. Less bready. Similar.
to Bent Paddle False Hibernation 2/25: Larger, darker head. Similar aromas. More sweet earthy oak notes. Less chocolate. Similar sweetness, but less smooth.
Overall: I've had their Oak-aged one last year which was excellent. This is similar, but drinks more dark and roasted. Dark, roasted, and bitter. Dark and roasty. Very good. (Rating: 4.05)
