A - Pours out an opaque black body with brown highlights, light tan head which fades to a thin cap. Lacing is extensive thin lined across the glass.

S - Strong hit of grassy hops with a note of roasted malts below, bread with a touch of char, like dark toast.

T - Opens with molasses bread malts, a bit of chocolate expands into the middle, as the toasted bread note runs through, and a slightly bitter, acidic bite in the finish.

M - Brisk start, strong carbonation, moderate weight, and clean, slightly dry finish.

O - This is a very solid dark beer. Lovely, drinkable, with a lot of lovely flavors. I need to try this with some BBQ.

Compared to Barrel Theory Dark Helmet 1/2024: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More dark chocolate and roast. Less smooth bread. Darker and more roasted.

Compared to MKE Pinsetter 1/2024: Pours similar, stronger aromas. More dry cocoa, dark roast. less bittersweet chocolate. Dryer, more roasted and cleaner.

Compared to Geisenbrau Nec

Phase Three Czech Dark: Similar pour, stronger aromas. More bitterness and roast. Less bready. Similar.

to Bent Paddle False Hibernation 2/25: Larger, darker head. Similar aromas. More sweet earthy oak notes. Less chocolate. Similar sweetness, but less smooth.

Overall: I've had their Oak-aged one last year which was excellent. This is similar, but drinks more dark and roasted. Dark, roasted, and bitter. Dark and roasty. Very good. (Rating: 4.05)
