16 oz. can pours a very dark clear filtered body and has a nice thick khaki tan head that takes a while to diminish. Smells like it's been hopped up a bit more than the usual porters, and the deep roast malts is subdued, with a coffee character.
Taste is hop forward, with coffee and light caramel flavors in the background. I've been a big fan of Sweeten Creek beers for a few years, but this one is not a home run for what I want in a craft porter. 5.5% abv on my can, so why is it in the stout category anyway? In either case, it leaves much to be desired. Green Man, ASheville BRewing, Samuel Smiths, so many better porters out there than this one. It does a nice clean feel and finish, though a boring attempt.

Definitely on the hoppy side of the spectrum as far as porters go, but a nice balance of roastiness and hops, and this beer seems to be well made (as we're all the beers I tried on my first trip here today). Would have no hesitation drinking this one again.
